Coffee Research Foundation is a State Corporation whose mandate is to research, develop and disseminate appropriate technologies for enhanced productivity, quality and value addition. The Foundation through financial assistance from STABEX FMO 1990 and 1991 of the European Communities invites applications from qualified persons for the following posts for a contract period of 26 months for Procurement Assistant and Drivers and 9 months for Laboratory Assistants.

PROCUREMENT ASSISTANT (Ref. No. PA/7/2008)

Reporting to the Procurement Officer

Duties and Requirements

• Receive requisitions from users for purchase of goods and services and confirm correct specifications and deliveries requested.
• Request for quotations, proposals or tenders from the suppliers as per specifications.
• Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
• Co-ordination, receiving and issuance of goods.
• Conducting of planned physical inventory/ stock taking.
• Undertaking continuous data validation/ reconciliation of stock levels in stores.
• Preparation of physical inventory stock taking reports.
• Improvement of existing stock control system in line with current best practices.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

The Applicant should have a minimum of:

• Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management.
• Not less than 5 years relevant experience in the management of procurement and stores operation.
• Member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management
• Computer literate, superior interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Capacity to work independently and under pressure to meet set deadlines.
• Results oriented, self driven individual of high integrity.
• Understanding of Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005 and Rules and Regulations 2006.
• Knowledge of EDF procedures will be an added advantage.
• Maximum age of 40 years.

DRIVER III – (2 POSITIONS) (Ref.No.D3/8/2008)

Duties and Requirements

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Transport Officer.

• Drive Coffee Research Foundation vehicles.
• Routinely check and maintain the vehicles assigned to him/her.
• Detect and Report the vehicle’s malfunctions to the Duty Mechanic.
• Take due care of the vehicle on or off the road.
• Ensure the safety of passengers and/or goods.
• Maintain the general cleanliness of the vehicle.
• Occasionally on-call duty.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

The Applicant should have a minimum of:

• O-level Certificate (D+) or equivalent.
• Occupational Test for Drivers Grade III.
• Clean and valid Driving License Class B/C/E.
• Current Certificate of Good Conduct.
• 5 years driving experience.

LABORATORY ASSISTANT III (4 Positions) (Ref. No. LA/9/2008)

The successful candidates will work under the supervision of a Laboratory Technologist.

Duties and Requirements

• Collecting explants and preparing them for culturing
• Preparing media
• Culturing and sub culturing
• Preparing regenerated plants to go to the greenhouse
• Cleaning glassware and the Laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

The Applicant should have a minimum of:

• KCSE D+ or KCE Division four, with
• Certificate in Agriculture or Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution, or
• At least five years proved working experience in a Tissue Culture Laboratory.
